Hi friends, I had felt a lump on my right breast last month and showed to a doctor who further referred me to a gynecologist. On clinical check up she asked me to get a breast ultrasound done post which I was asked to get FNAC done. While I am waiting for the result, I am terrified of what it might be. I am only 33 years old and have small children. Has anyone else been diagnosed with breast cancer in this age group? I am very scared.

I am a breast cancer survivor and was diagnosed 2 years back when I was 31 years old. I underwent lumpectomy followed by chemo and radiation and am on hormonal medication now. My daughter was 4 years old then. I know how you must be feeling. I was also very scared of how will I be able to look after my daughter during treatment but frankly it was not as tough as I had imagined. Time passes by and you get over it. And children are very smart these days. They understand a lot more than what we give them credit for. Don’t worry so much and stay positive. It may not even be cancer.

Thank you Mr Sorout. What is a lumpectomy?

It means that the whole breast will not be removed but only the lump area is removed.

I am also scared of hair loss. Someone in distant family had been diagnosed and she lost all her hair.

I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and have lost my hair. Yes, it was very emotional to see my long hair fall off but that can’t be helped. On the bright side I have met many cancer survivors whose hair have come back and many say they are more heavy than before. So, I am looking forward to that J

Hello, there are ways to manage the baldness during the treatment. Since I was working during the treatment, I used to wear a wig but a friend of mine wore very smart cotton head gears.
